The Ransohoff LeanJet RB-8 Immersion Cleaning System was recently featured online and in the print edition of Production Machining. Ransohoff’s rotary basket washer is touted as a productivity-enhancing solution to a cleaning process bottle-neck.
The application focus in the story was developed for Allfast Fastening Systems, part of California-based TriMas Aerospace. The company, which produces components and installation tooling for the aerospace industry, was in need of an efficient parts cleaning solution to replace a highly cumbersome and labor-intensive cleaning process. The operation in this application involved the manual cleaning of up to 5,000 parts per day.
A key project take-away is that the “cleaning operation went from two shifts with three to four operators each to one shift with one operator.”
The automated cleaning system, which was customized for Allfast by the Ransohoff team provides excellent oil separation for the heavily soiled parts. It also uses an environmentally friendly cleaning fluid, which is acceptable for California’s stringent standards.
The Allfast project manager chose to work with Ransohoff because the team was professional, easy to work with, and extremely helpful. Ransohoff was able to modify the RB-8 LeanJet to efficiently meet the specific project needs. For example, Allfast wanted to reduce the basket number from the standard eight baskets to four, enabling them to better trace lots. Several accessories were also added to the machine to enhance its benefits to the customer.
According to the article, “Allfast is so pleased with the RB-8 washer as well as the customer service and professionalism that the cleaning OEM provides that it is planning to make a second washer purchase for another project.”
